Former North Carolina Governor McCrory served one term as North Carolina governor, and Eric Davis was elected chairman of the North Carolina State Board of Education. According to the Carolina Journal Davis is not affiliated with any political party.
We obtained audio recordings from the State School Board meeting. The contract was approved 7-4 by Davis.
Education First Alliance, NC Citizens for Constitutional Rights and No Left Turn in Education, are the largest North Carolina education groups. They found that the “Identity” module of the program informs teachers that whiteness can have an effect on everything outside of the classroom, and that pre-K’s goal for students is to “deconstruct all forms of whiteness.”
They explained that “Deconstructing Whiteness” was about challenging whiteness and learning skills to hold people accountable for their actions.
According to the education groups, the program encourages three-to-five-year-olds to “question scientific, social and historical facts,” as well as to “question issues of power and control in their lives.”
Education First Alliance obtained a slide of the program and published it in a press release. The program encourages teachers to promote “racial identity among young children”.
According to The Carolina Journal, Davis voted 7-5 in favor of the program. Davis also voted in February 2021 to approve new standards for social sciences. Critics say that the standards were based on CRT principles. Most modules are focused on “gender” and/or race in most grades.
Davis said that COVID-19 is invisible, can be transmitted, received, and carried unknowingly. It is an expression of racism and inequity. We must stop COVID-19’s spread and then vaccinate our bodies to eradicate it from the society.
