Rapper 50 Cent made headlines last October when he wrote on Instagram to fans that he would be voting for former president Donald Trump after finding out what the tax rates would be under democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
“WHAT THE F*** (VOTE ForTRUMP). I’M OUT. F*** NEW YORK The KNICKS never win anyway. I don’t care Trump doesn’t like black people. 62% you are out of ya f***ing mind,” 50 Cent wrote on Instagram.
50 Cent even endorsed Donald Trump based solely on the rising taxes under the proposed Biden Administration. He backed out of his word a month before the election and caved to the pressure of the cancel culture, particularly his ex-girlfriend Chelsea Handler. Handler talked about her ex-boyfriend’s support of Trump with late-night TV host Jimmy Fallon. She pointed out how 50 Cent doesn’t want to pay 62% in taxes and made a handful of racist comments, particularly noting how he should be voting for Biden because he is black. Only a Democrat would think it’s okay to tell someone they can’t vote for Trump because they are Black.
“So [50 Cent] doesn’t want to pay 62% in taxes because he doesn’t want to go from ’50 Cent’ to ’20 Cent,’ and I had to remind him that he was a black person, so he can’t vote for Donald Trump, and that he shouldn’t be influencing an entire swath of people who may listen to him because he’s worried about his own personal pocketbook,” Handler said on her interview with Fallon.
50 Cent later retweeted the interview, adding “f*** Donald Trump” and that he never liked him. “For all I know he had me set up and had my friend Angel Fernandez killed but that’s history. LOL,” 50 Cent adds, referencing his fictional character Angel Fernandez in “Scarface.”
It’s been nearly a year since the comments and 50 Cent said he is not only troubled by the high taxes under Biden but has decided to move out of New York City because of it. 50 Cent is a native New Yorker but revealed he would be moving to Texas. He said he just doesn’t like the people in New York City enough to stay. He even warned MSNBC host Ari Melber of the high tax rates being placed in New York City and how they will drive out all of the wealthy. California is already witnessing a similar phenomenon.
“New York City will change dramatically. Like, they’re going to end up moving to different territories. You look, all of Silicon Valley is now in Austin, Texas. So you will start to see people moving from these places to new places that make sense for them to hold on to what they’re earning, not have it just taken from them by the government,” 50 Cent said.
50 Cent has also indicated that he is leaving New York City over the harsh COVID-19 regulations. He posted an article of a Texas couple ironically being kicked out of a restaurant for wearing masks, instead of the other way around, and wrote the caption: “Yo I’m telling you we all gotta just move to Texas. LOL.”
Established businesses, entrepreneurs, and even celebrities are moving out of restricted blue states and into the wide-open red states where tax rates are low and the restrictions on freedom are even lower.
